First Time Registration

After submitting the necessary documents and completing the registration process, students are assigned a supervisor specific to their chosen area of research. Once deciding with the supervisor which courses to enroll for, Interactive registration will be done via the URL address - http://register.metu.edu.tr

IMPORTANT NOTE : For  Interactive registration do not open more than one screen at a time – this may cause a loss of information or the program may fail to register the courses.

Registration for continuation of studies

Students must  renew their registration each semester within the  period announced in the Academic Calendar. Registration renewal is carried out as follows:-:

  • Tuition fee payment
  • Interactive registration
  • Supervisor approval

Note: Access to the Registration program outwith the University campus will be open after 14:00 hrs on the first day of registration.

Important Note: In the case of incomplete registration (where one of the processes - Tuition fee payment, Interactive registration, Advisor approval is unfinished), the student status will remain as "non-registered" . Students who have not completed registration within the defined period deadline will be unable to register in the Add-drop period. Non-registered status students can apply to the Administrative Committee of the relevant department until the final day of the add-drop period ( by providing valid reasons) for a registration renewal. Students whose reasons are proven to be valid and justified will be accepted by the Administrative Committee and allowed to renew their registration. Students whose reasons are rejected after not being proven acceptable will remain as non-registered and will lose their student status. Those who have lost their student status due to incomplete registration may be allowed to register for the next semester by the decision of the Administrative Committee of the relevant department, once only , under the condition that payment of tuition fees for the non-registered semester together with a penalty sum is met. In such a case, the lost period in the not-registered semester is counted for the education period."

In cases where any of the registration processes are incomplete (Tuition fee payment, Interactive Registration, Supervisor approval), applications will remain in the 'non-registered' status. Students who have not completed registration by the deadline specified will be unable to register in the Add-drop period. Students in the 'not-registered' status may apply for a registration renewal to the Administrative Committee of the relevant Department until the last day of the Add-drop period by providing proof of their reason for failing to comply with the given deadlines. If reasons provided are not accepted by the Administrative Committee, the student concerned will stay as 'not-registered' and may lose his/her student status. Students who have lost their student status due to incomplete registration may be allowed to register for the next semester (one off situation) dependent on the decision of the Committee with the condition that full tuition fee payment of the 'not-registered' semester is made in conjunction with payment of a fine incurred. In such cases, the 'not-registered' semester is considered to be part of the total education period.
